Estelle Kampmeyer Elementary School was built in 1965 and named after a former District 90 elementary teacher named Estelle Kampmeyer. Over the years, EK School has housed students from grades Pre-Kindergarten – 6th grade. In 1988, an addition was added to the existing building and this area now houses the library, and grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th.
Currently, Estelle Kampmeyer School is an elementary school that houses grades Pre-kindergarten through grade 5. Approximately 475 students attend EK School and most live within a 1.5 mile distance from the school. Each grade level consists of two, three or four teaching sections with class sizes ranging in the low to upper 20’s. EK School also houses the District K-5 autism special education program and has three special education resource classrooms. Interventionists support all grade levels and reteach skills to qualifying students in both math and reading. Support services available at EK School include: Speech, Social Work, OT, and PT. All students enrolled at EK School participate in weekly specials rotations. Specials include library, music and physical education. Specials classes run 40 minutes each.
